Taxpayer Advocate Service Problem Solving Day

Stop by the TAS table to schedule an appointment.

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will be available to assist taxpayers with unresolved IRS tax problems. Our goal is to provide personalized, step-by-step guidance. If your tax problem meets TAS case criteria, we’ll assign a Case Advocate to work directly with you.

To discuss a client’s tax matter at the event, please ensure you have the proper authorization form. You will need either a Form 2848, Power of Attorney, or Form 8821, Tax Information Authorization. If you are not a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or licensed attorney, you will likely need to use the Form 8821. Please bring a signed copy of the form with you to the event. Appointments will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. TAS will be located in the hallway right outside the main classrooms at Room 352.

TAS is an independent organization within the IRS. TAS helps taxpayers resolve tax problems, recommends changes to prevent future tax problems, and protects taxpayer rights. TAS’s services are free to taxpayers who are:

  • Experiencing a financial hardship or having financial difficulties because of a tax problem;
  • Trying, but haven’t been able to resolve an IRS tax problem; or
  • Believing an IRS system or procedure isn’t working.
