Timur Taluy from Oxnard, CA is Chief Executive Officer of FileYourTaxes.com. He co-founded FileYourTaxes in 1995 as the original cloud based tax software provider to individuals and professionals.
In March 2015 the IRS Commissioner asked Taluy and the CEOs of 12 other tax software companies to help the IRS identity Stolen Identity Refund Fraud and to initiate the Security Summit that is developing new requirements for taxpayers, tax preparers, software companies, and states when filing and processing tax returns.
As CEO and chief architect of FileYourTaxes.com, Taluy was named top 40 under 40 by the CPA Technology Advisor. He has nearly 20 years’ experience and involvement with cyber-security and the security, policies, and operational issues surrounding the storage and transmission of sensitive data. He currently is a board member for the Council for Economic Revenue Advancement (CERCA) and has chaired its security committee working closely with industry leaders and the IRS to help protect the nation’s tax system and taxpayer information. His experience is unique, bridging small business experience with deep technical understanding of the underlying technologies involved in the tax filing process
Taluy and his family reside in Ventura, CA where he is active in the community and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of the CBC Federal Credit Union, a $450M financial institution. He served on the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee authoring reports to the United States Congress regarding the IRS’ performance in electronic tax administration.
Taluy earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1998 where he served on its Alumni Board of Governors and is a practicing tax preparer.
